Wii newbie question

Linflas

So I bought a Wii today mainly because it is the first video game my wife has ever shown an interest in and I have to say the little we messed with it today it seems like it will be a lot of fun and a great way to get some needed exercise. The one thing I cannot figure out though is how to get controller 2 to be able to do all functions. Are there certain functions that can only be done with controller 1? I have read through both manuals that came with the system and find nothing about this. The places so far that I have run into this issue is when creating the "Mii's". My wife and I each had a controller, mine #1, hers #2. I created 1 with no problem but when she tried with her controller she could get to the Mii area but could not get any options to display to make her Mii. We finally just used controller 1 to create hers as well. Another place we ran into it was when whe started the Sports disk and it says to press A and B together. She had controller 2 and nothing would happen when pressing those buttons together. Is this the way it is supposed to work or have I skipped something in the initial setup?

for the mii's, I think it is based on player 1 only. also, for starting a game, I do believe only controller 1 will be recognized. technically because the 2nd+ controllers aren't enabled in the game yet. It's one of the flaws of the system, managing multiple remotes for games as not every game follows the same scheme. It took me a good while to figure out how to add multiple people to Super Monkey ball given how Wii Sports worked

Yeah the first controller is the only one in control in most menu type situations. If you really don't want to pass the controller, you can press the home button and from there you can change the controller order. But that probably takes like 20-30 secs.

Just hand the controller to her. What's the big deal? Are you scared she'll get germs on it?

 The friggin things are strapped to your wrist so if there is a way to do it without having to swap controllers it would be nice. I never said it was a big deal but thanks for the polite response.

Don't forget to program the wiimotes to sync with your console. There's a red button on the back of the wiimote by the battery slots and a red button on the console by the SD card slot. If you haven't done this, the wiimote would get out of sync and power off.

You can only use one wiimote for creating miis. As for the sports game and clicking A and B together, I believe you will need to have each controller press and hold A and B together based on how many players you want to play with.

Hope this helps.
