Wii light gun games

Not much conversation about what would appear to be a natural strong suit for the Wii, so I'd like to start one myself; how are the shooters for the Wii?

I've read about Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicals and that seems interesting enough. I just like the idea of blasting chunks of zombie skull off 😀 For those that have played it, is it worth puchasing just to chill out and blast zombies in your spare time?

How about some others? House of the Dead 2/3 is coming out, thoughts about that?

Anybody interested should chime in!

Ghost squad is really good. It's a classic rail shooter. I haven't played Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles but my friend that has it says it's ok, kind of slow for his taste.

RE and House of the dead are like polar opposites, despite the fact that both are zombie blasters. I personally thought RE was awful - its extremely slow paced and doesnt control very well. Its almost exactly as you'd imagine RE to be if you took control of the player away and put it into first person. You can squeeze the trigger like mad and it just goes pop....pop.....pop......pop.......................reload...............................pop....pop. I fell asleep playing it twice.

House of the dead and Ghost squad are classic old school lightgun games, super fast paced. Not to mention the actual lightgun control in GS is so far and beyond RE that its not even funny - you can calibrate the remote to be dead accurate and even play without the cursor. House of the dead should be exactly the same way.

Links crossbow training that comes with the zapper is alright, but the zapper really works well with GS and HotD, wheras its a useless piece of junk with RE and LCT.

So if you wanna chill out, get RE, but keep a pillow handy. If you want intensity, pick up a zapper and GS/HotD.

Another vote for Ghost Squad. Link Crossbow is just a bunch of lame minigames. I havent played HotD yet but I always enjoyed in the arcade so it can't be bad.

I enjoy Umbrella Chronicles more than HotD. Mostly because I suck at gun games, so the slowness and easiness factor helps.

I thought RE UC was great. It's 'slow' in terms of how fast the rail is moving you but the action gets heavy as you go on and the minor intricacies to it makes it fun such as getting the critical headshots and the proper score to get the highest ranking etc etc.

I've actually been overlooking ghost squad because I didn't know it was a rail shooter. Hate to admit it but it also didn't really appeal to me, however now that several people have chimed in with praise I'll probably pick it up.

About the light gun itself, I've read that it's sort of annoying to use. Do any of you have experience with those pistol-type wiimote cradles and if so would you recommend them in lieu of the zapper?

I'm planning on picking up the Nyko one. I think it looks much better to use and you don't have to have the nunchuck stuck in the back which I think would be annoying. Seems to get better reviews than the others on Amazon (with exception of the Nintendo one).

you can also find it for like 19.99 a lot too. good price for a great game. has to be one of the best arcade gun games i have played.

I'd probably take the nyko one too. I preferred the zapper for GS because it allowed you to use Z as the trigger and therefore felt like a proper submachine gun. Most other games force you to use the B-trigger on the wiimote, so you end up having the squeeze the trigger on the front of the zapper which just feels so wrong.

The CC ad this week had a $10 off offer if you bought the zapper and one of a couple shooters.
