I know it's got a slot to connect a Gamecube controller to the Wii, can I use a classic controller to play Gamecube games? Do I have to have a Gamecube memory card to save GC games on the Wii??
 
Yup, you need a Gamecube memory card to save any gamecube stuff while playing it on the wii. The classic controller won't let you play any gamecube games though.

I've got a Gamecube w/controllers and a memory card, but I let a friend borrow it and I can't get in touch with him (he's about 300 miles away).
 
Hmm, yeah that seems to be one of the few cons of the backwards compatibility thing with the wii, but I guess it makes sense.

memory cards are cheap heh, some are only a few bux, depending on memory size
