Wii expandible memory question...

Kabob

Lifer
I think my wife wants a Wii, quick question though. I know you can put an SD card in the Wii to expand the memory, question is will any SD card work or does it have to be one of those "Wii approved" SD cards I've seen in places like Best Buy. I assumed any will work but I want to make sure.

Any SD card that is 2GB or less will work. The Wii doesn't support SDHC so 2GB is as big as it can get.

Hrm, so I can't go grab an 8 GB card? Drat...then again, all that really goes on there is downloaded Nintendo/SNES/N64 games, right? Those are relatively tiny.

Yeah, you can't play the games directly from the memory card though. They have to be in the 512MB of internal memory on the Wii.

You can use the 2GB for Rock Band 2 DLC though and it will be accessible through the card.

The games you get on virtual console are tiny. I don't even know why I bought a 2GB SD card for it. I ended up using the SD card for my digicam.
