Just wondering if speakers/receiver interferes with the wireless router signal? My signal has slowed to a crawl. The only thing that seems to fix it is when I unplug the speaker that is about a foot away from the wifi router. When I do this the internet is smooth.

I do notice that the sound on the speaker has a high pitched electrical buzzing when the router is on. This buzzing transfers to the other speaker which is more then 4 feet away. All of the speakers are hooked up to a receiver. What can I do to fix this?

why don't you place the router somewhere else ?

Partly because our cable internet access only extends slightly beyond our entertainment center. I guess I could get an extension cable though. Any foreseeable problems with that?

Also just looking for confirmation that this is the cause. Could it be also that the speaker is not magnetically shielded and that this is causing problems along with the wires not being so as well?

It's generally not a good idea to put wireless hardware next to a lot of wires with a lot of electricity running through them. They act just like antennas.

Your best bet is to move the wifi gear at least a few feet away. Bear in mind that your speakers will act sort of like a wall, blocking a lot of signal in that direction.
