Wifi Security Troubles...

Better late then never, its 2012 and I just updated my home network to include wifi - I bought the Belkin PLAY N600 HD Dual Band N Router and flashed its firmware to DD-WRT then to Tomato USB - shibby.

Everything works great with the wireless until I enable WPA2-Personal with AES and PSK at that time as soon as I attempt to put the encryption code into the windows 7 wifi prompt its not able to connect to the network or shows the 'limited connectivity' status. I can't even ping the router.

If I disable the security my laptop connects to the wifi with absolutely no problem or issues what so ever, but I do not want to have a wide open network...

Anyone ever experience this before? I am quite new to the wifi realm and would appreciate any help.

I have used this laptop on other peoples wifi networks before both secured and unsecured and it has worked properly.

Never bothered to check, from what I read online about it the default firmware is very shotty so I did not bother to use it. I simply unboxed and flashed and updated to DD-WRT/shibby.

Its working perfectly if I disable the Wifi security features but of course I do not want to just have my wireless network unsecured as stated above.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, silly me! I fixed it - looks like my old laptop doesn't have the ability to support WPA2 with the wifi adapter/driver. Soon as I change it to use WPA it works. Hurray!
