wifi problem: connected to network with full strength - but then it just stops working?

Hi - I've been having a strange problem with a 802.11b connection recently. The router is a Linksys 802.11b router, and my wifi card is a avaya gold (orinoco rebadge). It will be working just fine - then it will just stop working. No internet access even though I'm connected to the router with excellent signal strength. I go into ip config and it says my ip address is 169.254.something (I forget the rest), subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and that I don't have a default gateway. What is going on?

Ahh that is your problem, you aren't getting an IP address. Does it work if you connect using a cable.
