wifi problem again

Ive been wirelessly connected to my router since friday night, rebooted to check a BIOS setting this morning, and when I logged back in....no wifi 🙁

iwconfig no longer lists my device, an Asus WL-167g usb adapter. I havent had the first problem with it since i bought it weeks ago.

dmesg shows the usb device as it comes at goes, lsusb shows it when its plugged in, but it doesnt come up in iwconfig at all (should be rausb0), and of course isnt seen by the network-settings panel in xfce (this is using Xubuntu 6.10)

prior to the reboot i hadnt done anything unusual with my network settings so I have no idea what may have caused it, and i dont really know where to start to find out how to fix it :/

did you update your kernel?

does lsmod show that you are using a driver for it? can you modprobe the driver (if you know the module name)

that was it!

i forgot i had run updates on numerous things saturday night

i plead memory loss from nyquil 😉

i cant remember the module name right now, ill poke around and find it, does that mean ill be re-installing the drivers or just something a bit simpler?

thanks 🙂

i just went ahead and re-installed the driver since modprobing the old one wouldnt work

/duh
