WiFi - periodically dropping connections....

i have a linksys wrt54g and a ibm t42 with integrated wifi b/g. is it normal to drop connections periodically?

i do have the hyper firmware on it because i need additional port forwarding and chose that one becasue it was listed as the most linksys like, i also have the power up to 100% instead of the default 50%.....

how much interference do these connections get from surrounding items like microwaves, t.v., cell phone and cell tower, cordless phones?????

this is quite annoying....

should i get pcmcia b/g card to see if that is the problem???

is rebooting the router something that is normal?

thanks from the frustrated guy

Try updating the driver on the T42. My dad was having the same problem on his T42. No you should not have to reboot the router on a regular basis.

Also, try a different firmware. Maybe DD-WRT or Linksys.
