WiFi file sharing with XP & 2K?

I just setup a wireless network here in the house. It works great except for file sharing. My Win2k system is my desktop and it has a large portion of all my data files on it. My laptop is XP SP2 and is the computer I use most of the time due to convienience. If I boot up both computers at the same time, I can access the Win2k file shares for about 4 minutes, and then neither computer can find the other one. Also, neither computer can ping the other computer's IP address. When physically plugged into a router with CAT 5 cable, my file shares work.

I have a D-Link DI-524 802.11g router, a D-Link 802.11g PCI card in the Win2k desktop, and a Microsoft MN-720 802.11g PCMCIA card in my laptop. I have downloaded the latest drivers for the cards and I am up to date at WindowsUpdate.

Any ideas? I have been thinking for a few months of converting the Win2k machine to XP.. will this help any?

I just diabled simple file sharing in XP Pro and setup identical users for each system and then added those users to the share permissions... still can't file share, or for that matter, I can't even see the other computer's name in Network Places. Any ideas?

You probably never will because I sure dont! Find out the Ip address or computer name of your trying to connect to and...

In any folder type into the address bar:
\\Computername\C$

that will let you access the root of the c drive "$" means administrative access.. Thats how I access all drives on my computers. Be sure to have a password setup, you will see a dialogue and I usually have it

Well, that didn't work either.. the problem is that 1 computer can't see that the other one even exists.. I never see the "name" of the other computer in network places/neighborhood.

Well, turns out that it was my Sygate firewall. I had it setup to allow LAN activity with my old LAN cards, but I totally forgot to also allow the WLAN cards when I installed them a month ago. I'm a moron! Thanks for the suggestions.
