Wifi connection problems for android phones

Hello,

A few weeks ago, both my brother's phone as well as mine started having problems connecting to my DLink DIR-600L router. Our internet is PPPOE type.

My brother has a micromax canvas a116i, while i have a moto e.

It either - a)Does not find the wifi network, even if the phone is right next to the router, or
b)Finds the wifi network, displays it, but refuses to connect to it. Only after a very long time will it connect to the network.

We also have a laptop at home, which connects to the network without any problems, although sometimes it takes a few seconds more than normal.
I have tried resetting the router, meddling with some setting(tried changing the wireless channels, etc), but the problems still persisted.

Also, at about the same time, my ISP started giving problems with net(random ping spikes for a few seconds while playing online games, packetloss sometimes). Is there any way that these two problems are interrelated?

Prior to the problem, I didn't change any of the router settings for a very long time. I also constantly keep checking if there are any other devices connected to the wifi, but none others show up.

It refuses because the router remembers the phones past connection of the phones connection to it and you need to wipe out the router history of any and all past connections to it.

It happens when the routers lease time is longer than the phones.
Next time you are in the routers settings then make the routers lease time to be shorter than 24 hours. This way your phone can connect no matter what.

A better way would be to make sure the lease time on the router and the phone are the same.

Well,I dont know how to clear the router history, but i tried factory resetting it and changing the SSID, but it didnt work.

I tried changing the router's lease time to 12 hours and 1 hour(default was 24 hours), but still the problems persist.

How do i check the lease time on my phone?

Check if your router is having the latest firmware, if not upgrade it and hopefully that will fix the issue unless if the issue is not a hardware issue.
