Wifi chipset on Asus P8Z77-V boards - works on linux?

Hi, can anyone confirm functioning WiFi under Linux using the Asus P8Z77-V boards (Pro or Deluxe)?

Nowadays I just kind of assume everything will work but this post makes me doubt:

I'm not looking for DLNA streaming etc to work but for a £190 board I'm hoping for a WiFi adapter.

I was not able to find any information as to what the chipset is. If you do:

Atheros: Good open source support, 99% of cards work with Linux, supports injection.

Intel: Nearly as good as Atheros, but may not support injection.

Broadcom: Works only if you get lucky, may support injection, binary blobs out the wazoo.

shows an Atheros AR9485 (on a P8Z77-V Pro) which according to this:

has been supported since Linux 2.6.39.

A download of the Asus drivers confirms it.

BUT the Deluxe version appears to use Broadcom! Ow. I was going to buy that too.

Guess it's a P8Z77-V Pro instead.

Yep, my deluxe uses a broadcom chip, that's too bad.

I got the same board: P8Z77-V-Deluxe. It is not hard to find the Linux driver for the wifi on this board. Mine is Broadcom chip BCM43228, which is shown in lspci. Suggest you find if your chip is BCM43228 just in case. Here I found an good stuff to have a look. I was successful by following this instructions.

sorry to dig up a old post, but I have the same MOBO P8Z77-VPRO. Am I understanding you right, I have to get the asus driver? Meaning the atheros driver does not support "wi-fi go" card. If that's the case, where can I find the driver?

Hey ! Got the p8z77-v pro here, running ubuntu 12.04 x64 (kernel 3.2.0-29). The wifi is woking out of the box with stock kernel (i.e. no driver from Asus), but not in "N" mode... i.e. it is stuck in G mode at 54Mbps. I'm still working on it; will update if I find something (should anyone have a hint, it sure would be handy too!). Very happy with this motherboard by the way.
