wifi backhaul question

Was looking at Netgear's mesh network extenders. The EX7300 is AC2200 (450 Mbps + 1733Mbps) and the EX7500 is AC2200 (400Mbps + 866Mbps + 866Mbps). Both support FastLane which is wifi backhaul. Is there much of advantage to using the EX7500 with 866Mbps set as the backhaul vs letting the EX7300 just extend both. Since it would cut the bandwith for the EX7300 in half it would be 225Mbps + 866Mpbs. Making the 5ghz the same as the EX7500. Not really sure why you would set FastLane on the EX7300 unless you only wanted 2.4ghz clients and used the 5ghz as the backhaul.

One other question. With two clients connected to the same mesh node, when they talk to each other it has to go from client A to mesh node to router back to mesh node to cilent B. Right?
