WiFi and paint

Does anyone happen to know if painting your router (spray paint or regular house paint) could cause wifi signal interference?

Basically I want to change the color of the WAP to match the room and to do this I would need to paint the cover.

I hope you are referring to taking the cover off and painting that. Even if your router doesn't have external antennas, the amount of signal loss would still be insignificant.

Make a thin card box (or heavy paper) for the Router, paint it in the paint of your choice and see how it is performing.

If Good you can try the paint the actual Router with the same paint.

Lead free paint would be fine I imagine. Just ensure you don't put it on too thick as to block air vents. I would ask the paint store if they can tell you the ingredients in the paint. Anything metal could maybe be an issue but I doubt it. I was playing around with this once for fun to see what it takes to kill a signal. Even wrapping my phone in foil paper did absolutely nothing. Could still ping it and it could still receive a call. You need pretty thick metal material to block a signal.
