Wifi adapters need help

I'm looking into getting a wifi adapter for my desktop. I have no knowledge on adapters. Which is better, pcie or usb? A quick google says that usb is fine but I'm looking to play online games and was wondering if it would increase latency. Will usb3 make a big difference? Do you guys have any recommendations?
 
pcie most likely won't be as good as usb. The antennae tend to be stuck behind the computer case. A usb adapter can be positioned for better signal much easier (on top of a desk, or in front of the computer, or on top of the computer)
usb 3 won't make too much of a difference.
