WiFi 5Ghz Problem

Hi.
I just bought a new router Belkin N600 Dualband.
I'm running Windows 7 64x Ultimate with a brand new setup:
ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE, Socket-1155
ATX, Z77, DDR3, 2xG3+1xG2-PCIe-x16,SLI/CFX,HDMI,DP, Dual band-WiFi, BT,DLNA,UEFI

So this is the problem, when I'm on the 5Ghz connection and for example connect to Usenet to download something, the WiFi connection disappears and the 5Ghz connection is gone, the 2.4Ghz is still there. So then I have to restart the router to get the 5Ghz connection back. This can happen without downloading also, when I'm just surfing. Sometimes I can download for 2 hours without loosing the connection. But the problem is kinda annoying and I cant figure out the problem.

I've updated every driver and updates on the computer. I have updated the firmware on the router and reset it several times, even tried the factory reset but without luck. I've tried different settings in the router like Wireless Mode > Bandwidth >
Wireless Channel >

Any suggestions? Im wondering about returning it tomorrow and get a
APPLE AIRPORT EXPRESS BASE STATION instead if I cant figure it out.

The router is upstairs, I would say it's like 3meters (9 feet?) down to the computer. I have full reception on the computer. It's very wierd, I've been downloading now for 1 hour without problems. Im on a 70/10 mbit internet connection.

Hrm... odd... does windows connection manager show full strength?

You can try downloading inssider. Its very user friendly and should be able to tell you if there is a periodic drop in signal strength.

Unfortunately your router does not have detachable antennas, normally I would suggest getting a pair of high gain external antennas. Like this one:

That usually solves spotty wifi connections. But if you are replacing it anyway you might try looking at the Linksys E4200 or ASUS RT-N66U, they both have a good reputation. Or if you can live without 5GHz support get a dlink DIR-600 and put a high gain antenna on it...

Does the computer's WIFI drivers are Native Windows, or some util loaded with the Asus Drivers.

If it is both you have to get rid of one of the two.

😎

Do you live close to an airport?
In the US, 5Ghz devices are required to monitor for radar signals and enter a "sleep mode" (couldn't find the definition) if no unused channels are found.
