Use another program to rip from CDs. Apple's MP3 encoder is not that good, so if you want MP3s, use EAC + a LAME encoder. If you want to use some other format, still use EAC + whatever encoder you want.

Yeah, Brainonska511's recommendation is what I do.

EAC + Lame to rip to mp3. EAC rips the disc to wan. Lame encodes to mp3.
