Ok, I read it, and it is over a week old. From my understanding, the $2k debit card program was from FEMA and the Red Cross, and only done in TX before it was cancelled in favor of bank accounts. Even in that story it says the cards were a variable amount in the "hundreds of dollars"...not the $2K cards. If I'm wrong, I can admit it, but all the info I've seen says the $2K debit cards were only handed out for a few days in TX.

My point exactly: "Each person is waiting to be handed a debit card, provided by the American Red Cross and Chase Manhattan Bank, that holds differing hundred-dollar amounts. The debit card is given a dollar amount depending on each family?s needs."

These were not the $2000.00 cards OP was claiming his strawman had snagged. Those were from FEMA and only in Texas.

If it has happened... Like he would be able to tell the difference between a FEMA card and a Red Cross card. He probably just assumed like the rest of us that they were the same.

Another thing that makes no sense to me...

He said he waited a "couple hours" in line to get the card, then was back on his way. All the news reports I saw said people were waiting an entire day, and being turned away...but he just drove in, waited in line for a couple hours, and got a $2k card? It just doesn't make sense to me..

If it was the other cards, those are much less, and it sounds like they tailored to the particular family's needs, so it doesn't sound like it would be easy for him to just swoop in and snag a card...

fuk dat, I'd take the card too. I am sick of getting raped by the tax man for shlt like the NEA. It'd only be right TO take one.

Maybe who ever told him/his wife the story lied or got some of the info mixed. Anyone whose been here long enough know jonnyGURU wouldn't make up stories just for the hell of it. He's prolly just posting what he's told.

I agree. In fact, I never thought JG made it up. As I said before, I think the guy in question is telling stories...

🙂

No he didn't

Just in case anyone missed it...which they apparently did. They never gave out debit cards anywhere except Texas...

Seems to me the guy is telling stories..

Over the weekend, the Federal Emergency Management Agency ended the experimental debit-card program after giving out about 10,000 cards to people in large shelters in Texas.

You don't sound like someone who pays a lot in taxes to begin with.

Seriously so what'd you pay in taxes last year and what do you do for a living?

Most people I personally hear about bishing about the tax man aren't really paying a whole lot. Some are even on programs taxes are paying for.

Either could be true. 😉 The guy could be lying (why, I don't know) or the story got messed up by the time it got to me.

Known for a fact: The guy was NOT in TX.

Not known: The exact amount of the card. I only assumed it was the $2000 card.

Also not known: Exactly how long the wait was. The guy had the whole weekend. And although all debit card hand outs have stopped, I never said this happened yesterday, the day before, etc. The guy just got back this past Monday. So even if he WAS in TX, he was there when they were handing out the $2000 cards.

Thanks for the update...sounds like the guy is telling stories, or not. Either way he is a loser.

Wasn't doubting good ole JG... 😉
