Great choice! I've read a few complaints about the Air, so I'm glad you didn't pay the premium which isn't worth it IMHO.

She didn't like the mini?

Her eyes aren't all that great, she wanted the larger size... and I tend to agree.

Does she take a lot of photos? My wife filled her 32 GB with videos and pics of the little one and doesn't want to deal with off loading and/or cloud services.

She probably won't, she uses her iPhone for that. As an aside, I swipe her phone every so often, download all the photos and create a backup (separate file from Apple file,) so I don't think memory is going to be an issue. I still haven't done the iCloud thing, even with the phones, I may wind up dipping my toe in that shark infested water soon.
