Wife just dented my car

So in this windy weather my wife wasn't paying attention and let the car door fly open and left a 3-4 inch vertical dent in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid it didn't scratch the paint but I want to fix the dent myself, any products on the market that would assist me in fixing it myself? I'd post pics but we just lost power too... Any help would be appreciated thanks

UPDATE: So took the called insurance company filed claim, they are fixing it for free! Woohoo...

Took it to the dealership where it sits now...and I get to drive a crappy rental car.

Dealership told me that upon further inspection the dent was deep enough that they have to replace the sheet metal for the door. Should hopefully get it back in time for Christmas...

Just talked to the dealership...they'll give me a free estimate whenever I bring it in. Then I'll get a couple other estimates, and finally see if any is covered by my insurance as I know it covers 'minor' dents....I just need their definition of a minor dent

I've tried removed dents myself on my ex-gf car using some tool she picked up at Walmart or something (suction cup like deal). It worked...kinda.

I did that to my inlaws car and get a dent out. It had 2 and I got 1 out but the other I could not as I only had compressed air and not dry ice.

That isn't necessarily true. I am very good at dent removal. I have been doing body work as part of my car hobby for over 30 years.

That being said, paintless dent removal is a totally different animal. It takes lots of special tools and knowledge. Most of the guys I have talked to that do this work make a lot of their own tools. I have done some paintless dent removal over the years with decent results but my experience with body work helped me understand how the dent was made and exactly how you should go about working it out.

To the OP.....take CRXican's advice and call a local paintless dent repair place. It sounds like you have a crease, not a dent. That is usually what results from one door slamming into one on another car. These types of dents are very hard to remove. It probably won't cost more than $100-150 if even that much and you can do WAY MORE damage trying something like this on your own with no experience.

talk to a dealership and ask them the next time their dent removal guy is going to be in. My local one charges $30 per dent, and it takes him 20 minutes. He goes in to the dealership once every few weeks, does all the cars requested and comes out about 800 richer

Looking it over it's more a crease than a dent she smacked it into a corner of a wall so it's very small maybe 1/8 inch deep and 4 inches long hopefully should be an easy fix for a pro...I hope

I thought it was a crease from the description of how it happened and thus you should not even attempt to get it out. Creases are difficult but a paintless dent repair specialist should have no problem.

make sure that paint job comes out perfect. nothing worse than when you can tell a new car has been repainted (mine got both sides done 8 months in. i was very anal about it).

I already talked to the body shop manager and requested they match the paint from the other side of the car. He stated they 'always did that' So we'll see.
