Woo hoo!

Ok - so this is what I got. . .

The new Toshiba SD-R5372 DVD Writer (my first dvd writer - and the fastest on the market currently) - writes double layer media at 5x.

and an upgrade for my video card - a rosewill Radeon 9600 (uping from a radeon 8500).

Wooot. . .
Woot. . .

Cool...was looking at that card but decided I was going to buy a DVD burner first..gotta order it later tonight..

Cool. I just got a $ 175 stash to newegg myself. Thinking of a new vc. Think I'm gonna kick in a few more bucks for a 9800 Pro AIW..... I told my wife enough OM and CompUSA cards etc. Sick of getting stroked all these years..... It takes you six months to wait and try to find a deal even worth making a purchase. And you're not even spending your money. Even though some are complaining recently, I love Newegg.

I wish I could get a radeon 9800 - but I can't justify it. My main gaming joy is Microsoft Flight Simulator. The 9600 will work nicely for it.

Personally I would have gone with an average DVD writer and a better video card. But i guess if you really like burning things its teh better choice

I'd have saved $$ on the dvd burner too, since it's still not worth it dollar-wise to burn DL discs.

I've been a Toshiba fan for a while - always had good luck with their stuff. Currently have a CD Writer and a DVD ROM both made by Toshiba that have been excellent.

I'm not saying Toshiba isn't good, just that the whole DL burning is what I'd consider "fluff" at this point....until media drops, not really worth it.

I agree. Hopefully the media will fall - it will probably have to. There was a similar thought when dvd single layer disks first came out. Media costs generally fall.

In the mean time I've got 50 TY's here ready to burn. . .
