Wife finally said yes.......

You're gonna love it. I love mine. Although I did just have to reset the DSL modem just now to be able to see the anandtech forums (weird). Now you need to buy lots of games that like fast connections!! 😀

LOL, your title might be somewhat misleading.... 😉

Anyway, congrats on the acquisition of broadband. Welcome to the 21st century! (says jliechty who is still stuck on 18th century technology - aka "dialup")

Sweet... I got it fairly recently also. Now aproval is totally different than accually having it (at least I learned).😉 Who you going with? SBC has been real bad to me... but redeemed themselves when they let me keep a better modem than what I ordered.

BTW- You will have fun downloading PCMark 2003 (just a big file and kinda cool).

Kk

What is this "dial-up" you speak of 😕 😉

Congrats MoFunk!

I just put in the order and it is supposed to be all set up the 17th. It is SBC but in my town no matter who I go with for DSL, it goes through SBC so I stuck with them. I am really all set up here at the house. I have been using a wireless DSL router as a hub and to connect to a wireless PC in the living room. So once I get the DSL JUNK installed I can sign up get set up, ghost my system back and go through the router to connect and not their goofy software! I have been sharing dial up with my computers and it sucks when the wife and I are browsing at the same time. So I am hoping that all goes smooth. I have been waiting for this for years!

I been on a cable modem for years now, and I finally got fed up with the bad pings and put in an order for DSL. Line got installed yesterday - now to get the modem and I'm in business. 🙂

Welcome to broadband! I'm on the SBC network also.. pretty stable over here for the most part. 😀

I just hope they don't take long to install your stuff.. like they did with mine 😛

Couple a dixie cups and a string, eh? (Okay, so I had dixie cups missef until a week ago). 😀

Great news.
I have SBC DSL, 1300 dl, 248 ul.
I loaded AOL on a Customers PC last night (dialup, 28,000 modem) and thanked the Computer Gods for broadband.

🙂

Welcome to the world of HSI!! It rocks!! 🙂

My Wife uses our cable connection much more than I do since I travel all the time.

Welcome to the life of broadband!

I have had broadband since April 2001, save for a few weeks when moving house, and those few weeks were like hell! 😉 Once you've gone broadband, you'll never want to go back. Even just checking a couple of pages at a friend's house without broadband turns into a 10 mintute ordeal, as opposed to a couple of minutes at home! 😉

Cool!

I'd go here once it's installed and tweak your connection settings. I had to go there after putting ICS on my multi-homed XP box as my speeds dropped from 150KB/sec to about 30KB/sec. Back up where I was before!

i served my 2 year sentence with dialup
my first 2 years of college in 97-98 and 98-99 i was stuck on dialup.
then i switched colleges and found a 16 unit apt complex with a dedicated t1 line. needless to say i havent gone back to dialup since.
using decel now.
if this town didnt have decel, i probably wouldnt have taken the job!
