NOTTINGHAM, England ? Police here issued a statement shortly after noon Boston time saying local native Neil Entwistle is not being eyed as the potential killer of his wife Rachel Entwistle and the couple?s 9-month-old daughter.

The two were found shot to death Sunday in the family?s rented Hopkinton home. Massachusetts authorities said Neil Entwistle left for England at about the time of the killings but have called him only a ?person of interest.?

?Neil Entwistle is not a suspect. He is being treated by the U.S. Authorities as a potential witness,?? a Nottingham Police spokesman reading the statement said.

?There are not extradition proceedings in relation to him,?? it continues. ?On that basis, the police in England and Wales have no legal powers to take executive action.?

Police refused to say where Entwistle or his family may be staying.

Meanwhile, an array of satellite trucks is surrounding Entwistle?s parents home on a quiet street in a village about two hours by train from London.

Neil Entwistle grew up here before studying in York, where he met Carver, Mass.-native Rachel Entwistle. They recently moved to the United States.

Four Massachusetts State Police detectives are in England working the case.

His trip to England could have been a prearranged business trip, not an escape plan.

Rapists don't get the death penalty, so Canada would hand them over.

Don't you think he would've cancelled a business trip during the same week his entire family is murdered?

Hopkinton was my home town of 15 years. Hasn't had a murder in 11 years, let alone two. Weird stuff.

They always say suspects aren't suspects when they don't have them in custody. They want him to cooperate so they can catch him in a mistake

Nah, the feds are traveling to England to question him. He's only a "person of interest" atm.

What they said is he left for a trip about the time of the murders... so if he was already gone he may not have heard of it until he was in England. It is a bit strange he didnt come home though as soon as he heard about it.

Since he lives in England, maybe he knows people there who he can be with to comfort him while he grieves?

Not a single mysterious death/disappearance, even when EMC's stock price came back down to earth? :p

Seriously. If your wife and kid got killed, wouldn't you want to be with close friends and family?

Sure, eventually, but I think I would take a day or two at home to get my affairs in order first. The guy left immediately after the murder. It's a little hard to oversee an investigation an entire continent away, wouldn't you say?

News casts last night said that he would remain out of the country for the funeral proceedings. Personally, I think he did it. But if he were ever brought back into the US to face charges, him leaving the country (and the reason for leaving) could not be used against him in the trial because it would be unfairly prejudicial and spectulative in nature.

from the news yesterday

They want to talk to him since they say they cannot confirm when he left to go to England
want to know if it was before or after

They also want to talk to him about some scams he has done over the past few years to see if maybe someone he ripped off did it
