wiered speaker problems..

Every once in a while, My speakers would create this super high pitched sound that would last for about 2 seconds. (sounds like a dial up connection) This is not my speakers problem as this also happens when i plug in headphones. This sound this seriously loud as i am now scared to wear my headphones. Any idea on what the prob might be? bio sett8ing incorrectly? Btw, i know its not a driver issue though

i have ac 97' intergated sound
 
Check to see if it is sharing an IRQ with some bandwidth heavy device like a network controller, video card, or HD Controller...
