wierdness with 3dpipes screensaver after i installed a 3870 X2

i just bought a diamond radeon 3870 X2 and noticed that my favorite screensaver is acting wierd. the pipes are flashing real wierd and all broke up. i am using the latest catalyst and running vista 64 bit with service pack 1. what is causing this? everything else works great

That means that something is unstable in your system. Are you overclocking? The card might be defective.

that is the wierd part, i have run numerous benchmarks with it and they all run fine. that is the only thing that is wierd

no, this is the first time i have ever experienced this. the screensaver ran fine with my 2900 pro that i just upgraded from

I had that happen to me on my old Athlon XP 1800+ @ 2000+ speeds, when I tried to overclock it higher, and tested it on the 3d pipes for extended periods of time, then the pipes got all messed up. It was because the FPU was flaking out on the CPU.

In your case, I don't know if the 3d pipes screensaver is video-card accelerated or not. In my case it was not, so the failure was due to the CPU. In your case it could be either the video card or the CPU.

hmm, that is wierd i am not seeing anything wrong elsewhere. i just installed crysis and was messing around with it and had no problems at all. all my temps are good too so nothing is overheating either
