Have a Linksys WAP11 and an Orinoco Silver USB, SMC wired 4-port router, XP Pro (fully updated), 256MB RAM, Athlon XP1500 and all updates and firmwares are all the latest. Optonline cable modem service.
My network has been running fine for the past 5 months. Recently, in the middle of browsing sites, or even when not, I randomly lose the connection to the AP for about 3 seconds and then it comes back. Most of the time my signal is very strong, and I am not using any 2.4GHZ phones or microwaves. The drop always lasts for 3 seconds and can happen multiple times a day or sometimes it does not happen for days.
I was having problems where the signal to the AP remained strong but the client was losing its IP, but a System Restore has seemed to remedy that problem. I have a Blekin client to try, but it screws up my system when I disable the Orinoco and install the Belkin.
I have reset everything, restored the AP to defaults and still the problem persists. Although I have other computers on the network, I do not know if they are dropping like mine because they are 2 computers my neighbors have, and they are not online that often.
Anyone have any ideas?
