I recently picked up a Compaq Ipaq router/AP and a USB 802.11 adapter I'm right now using it to network my computer with my friends computer next door in a neightboring apartment building. for the past few days I have been able to hit 40% signal strength and for a split second it would log onto the network but then would report connection not available. on a whim last night I set up IE to work off broadband and it seems to be running fine off my cable modem even though windows still reports it as being off the network. I can now ping both computers fine. both computers are running windows XP. I was just woudering why windows is showing that the network is not connected. thanks
