Wierd temps from cores on q6600

Well, I now have my cores in a respectable range at 3.2, But note the weirdness, if any.

Core 0:66c
Core 1:66c
Core 2:60c
Core 3:60c

Cores 2,3 are Always 5 degrees less then the first two cores. Is this normal?? Also, where are the actual cores on the chip if you facing the motherboard from the back (looking at the back panal)? (this might solve my problem.

The new Zalman blue ZM-NB47j on my NB lowered the NB temps by 11c. Very happy about that.

Yes its normal, carry on soldier!

Hmmmm i bought that Zalman aswell but i didnt end up using it because the stock cooler looked bigger and better, im now wondering if i should use it.

Also what you using to measure the Northbridge temps ?

I am using speedfan for NB. I also added a 40mm fan to the Zalman, but I dont think its needed. That thing is amazing.

Look at this to see where the cores are beneath the heat spreader:

And temperature diffrences between the cores are normal.

I'd have gotten a Thermalright HR-05 (IFX) for the NB, I had one myself for my DS3 and was very happy. Is that 11C temeprature improvement witgh the fan or without it? Seems pretty strange that you coudlg et that much of an improvmeent without active cooling if that's withotu a fan, ebcause there's not much difference between the zalman and the stock heatsink.

COMPLETLY UNTRUE. Sorry. The Zalman is an amazing little piece of equipment. My friend loved what it did for me, so we JUST, like an hour ago, replaced hisNB on his Asus Board and his NB temps decreased by about 9c without a fan. Also, we have a pretty hard core Computer shop around where I live, and when someone buys a system from them over 1k, They will not give the comp to the costumer without a Zalman on it's NB. They say, they get to many returns without it on their. And they are speaking of about 20 years experience of high end computer building. So, try it , or don't, or choice, I was skeptical as well, but its really amazing. I will turn the fan off for you and see what happens, if that helps.

What are your temps as reported by core temp? I heard that speedfan doesn't give accurate readings. On my Q6600 G0 on Asus P5k-VM, it's off by 13c. The core temp app also matches with BIOS readings.

I am using core temps for CPU, using speedfan for NB only. As for Nickel, I took the little fan off and it warmed up about 1c. That little heatsink is amazing for the NB, give it a shot, I think you will be happy.
