I get this strange problem sometimes in Windows XP Pro where my start button in the lower left corner does not do anything when I press it? It is almost like it gets detached from the menu it is bound too!!! For the life of me, I cannot figure what the heck is causing this problem. All of the options that the start button lets you view can still be viewed by other means such as right clicking the desktop etc... No other instabilities of any kind are observed... And, yes, all spyware, registry, cache, cookies, etc... ad naseum have been cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis and my system is pretty darn secure. Anyone know what this might be?

It will respond to me only half of the time when I continually click it one time after another. Is this what you're describing?

Nope, what happens is that it will just stop responding, period! I just click it and nothing happens!? Not sure what strange conflict could be causing this....:( Any ideas?

Hmm that is a good question? I am at work now, so I will check that when I get home.

The rest of the taskbar is completely responsive when this happens. I can also access the menu by right clicking the desktop, just not with the start button?... Thanks for the help. Hopefully, we can figure out this problem so others will know how to solve/avoid it if they have it too!
