Wierd Sound Problem

I have an Aureal SQ2500 and Labtecs LCS-2414 speaker setup. Whenever I play unreal tournament the sound sounds like a cheap pair of speakers turned up too loud. It sounds great in all my other games and apps just NOT in UT. I have tried disabling 3d sound and surrond sound. Also tried Sound quality at both low and high and still have the same problem. Is this a game specific problem or do I need to look elseware for the problem. I have patched UT with the latest patch to no avail.

try lowering the main volume of your sound card. Also, it may help if you 'lower' the hardware acceleration and sample rate conversion quality of your sound card.

you can also try checking for the latest drivers for your sound card. also, upgrading directx may not be a bad idea if you're feeling adventurous (since UT uses directsound).
