Wierd Sound Card Problem

I've been using native sound on A7N8X Deluxe but it has recently started causing a wierd problem... unless I disable AC 97 in BIOS, I cannot boot up into DOS. It gets hung up everytime scanning PCI bus hanging with the (approximate) message"Scanning PCI bus with Mecanism #2." I've tried both Silicone Image and Promise ATA controllers, in fact, I think I've tried everything... I will start using a PCI sound card, shortly and will probably be RMAing this board and in near future... Just thought I'd give it a shot with y'all
