wierd right click problem in XP

HI guys, I wonder if anyone has run into this...

yesterday, for no apparent reason, the default 'double click' for folders produced the search option rather than the default 'open' option.

Also, if i right click on a folder, I get the usual menu, but instead of 'open, search, explore' in descending order, the 'search' is on the top.

OK, so I virus scanned the PC = clear.

Today, all 3 computers on my small home network are doing the same thing.

Couldn't find anything on a google search, nor checking symantec's site, but with the spread of this it does seem infectious...

Has anyone run into this as a problem, whether malicious or not, and does anyone know a way I can bump 'open' back on top of the pile, it's damn frustrating double clicking and getting search all the time. Even setting the 'one click like your browser' option in folder options still gives the search page.

Short of a new install (on all 3 PC's = groan) I am unsure what to do.

system: OS= Xp pro SP2 on all PC's, virus scan - AVG, also scanned with trend 'house call'.

Any advice welcomed.
