Ok, so I set up my new pc and everything seemed to be working fine. Specs:
-Dual Athlon 1.53ghz
-Gainward Gf3 Ti200 (drivers 22.50)
-512MB Crucial Ram
-550w PSU
-Tiger Mp
-19 Inch Iiyama
-WinXP Pro

Now, I try to play a game, and the game works fine, and can run it all day no crashes, but once I exit the game, if the game resolution is any different than my desktop resolution (usually 16x12), the OS will just sit there with a game resolution of my desktop on top of my 16x12 resolution and it will just stay there. I need to manually reset the PC in order for it to work again. If I play the game at 16x12, then I can exit normally (tried with quake 3 and half life)... I don't really have any idea what could be causing it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Arg...this is driving me nuts...Someone must have some idea..
I've tried formatting and reinstalling xp..still get same thing..
I can describe it a little clearer now..
I open quake3, close it. Open it again, close=crash. Usually I can play once, then the second time, it will crash..ughh...anyone??

Hmm...I tried those....I couldn't test them though...After installing them, XP gave me a "System Halted / Memory Parity Error" I don't get that on any of the other drivers...ugh...this isn't looking good...anyone??

Yeah for some reason i dont think gainward cards like NVIDIA drivers...

I have a Gainward GeForce2 Ti450 and when I installed the latest NVIDIA drivers for Windows XP, when I rebooted it changed to 800x600 4 bit and I couldnt change the display settings... The drivers that came with the card work, but I feel that they are unstable as it causes Unreal Tournament to make Windows Xp Crash

Sorry dont really know what to say.

well,. sorry I'm at a loss of ideas for ya. So ill bump it and maybe suggest looking at the mobo manufactures site and see if any new BIOS or updates are out there that may address your issue. I dont recommend upgrading your BIOS as something to do on a whim, as a botched BIOS flash can lessen your chances of the mobo ever working again.

Restart in Safe Mode, and check your Device Manager. Make sure there is only one videocard installed there. Sometimes when you install new drivers, Windows keeps the old ones and still thinks you have the other "videocard" installed.

Remove everything but one video adapter there, and you can even delete that one, then install your drivers.

Sorry about that, yes I am using ddr ram. PC2100 ECC Registered DDR RAM. hmm..Well my pc doesn't like those 23.11 drivers. Always gives me memory parity error when XP starts....But, now I'm using the 21.81 drivers from gainward's site. It seems like my exiting and changing resolution problem may have been solved..It doesn't seem to happen anymore. This certainly is wierd. hehe Well I will keep you posted. And thanks for all your help thus far. :)
