Wierd Question...

i just got my friends entire music collection and its organized into folders. eg. in the folder "Music", there are hundreds of different folders of the artists, then in those folders of the albums, then the actual song. its the way itunes organizes the music, as you know. well i would like to add it to my collection, but my collection is organized the same way, so i cant just put them all in the same folder, b/c all my folders that have the same names (when we both have the same artist) so mine will be overwritten. is there a way for me to extract all the mp3s out of the file system? i would do it via itunes, but im using vista and itunes runs like $hit. if anyone could help, it'd be apprciated.

If you want YOUR music files to be retained, even if your friend's collection has files of the same names, the simple solution is to put YOUR FRIEND's collection into a new folder, then copy YOUR collection into the same folder, answer "Yes to all" to the overwrite question, and then remove your original folder.

That way, for any duplicate files, your original files would have survived, and you would have a merged collection.
