Wierd Parts that was shipped with case, what are these?

Hi all,

NOOB WARNING: I'll be asking a question that is too noobish, forgive me for that. I just want to what these are:

I just bought a COOLER MASTER Elite 330 and I checked the parts.

Along with the screws, standoffs, manual, etc .. there came two (2) unidentified objects.

One looks like a metal donut:

the other one looks like a plastic with an X on it:

Which I think the green paper should be peeled off and stick it somewhere.

What are these parts? Are they important?

The only use I can think of that plastic X is placing it on the metal surface where the mobo is seated. I guess, the purpose of this thing is to make clearance between the plate and the mobo?

Is that right? Or I'm totally off? If I'm correct, should that Plastic X be on dead center?

About the metal Donut .... clueless

One last thing, this case does not come with those paper-like red circles. So this means I'll screw the bolts directly to the metal standoffs right?

The first one, i have no clue. I sometimes get those and never used it. I think someone in china likes messing with us so they throw in a random part to make us freak out. [kidding, but i seriously have no clue on what that metal circle is]

The second one is called a ziptie mount. You put it on the wall of your case, and then slide a ziptie though the middle. Bunch the cables and then close the ziptie up. The mount will let you side mount cables cleaner.

EDIT: Someone in a different forum (which I posted this too) said that this metal donut is called ferrite magnet that reduces electrical interference. 😀

You run the front panel wires through it with a loop.

Ahhh i see ... hmmm all of my Front panel audio cablesas a rubber coat already (It was made by CoolMaster like that).

I can't find a picture (google) on how to exactly use this. If I can only find an actual picture or the looping mechanism .. its gonna be easy.

Since my F-audio panel cables has a rubber coat already, could I just use this in the F_panel USB cables (which is scattered). Or, its just pointless to use it F_panel USB?

EDIT: I just noticed that my F-Panel USB also has a rubber coat with it. Can I just use it in the power/reset/speaker/etc cables that are scattered?

The first one is a ferrite toroid, or a toroid core; it becomes a toroidal coil only if you wrap a wire around it.

You put the unshielded front panel wires thru the ferrite core, wrap once around and back thru the center. Helps keep radio frequencies out of your mobo. I use them when they are supplied - less and less often these days as the case makers keep dropping their standards - if they ever had any...

And ditto the others for the zip tie anchor ID - handy little items...

What kind of an idiot outputs audio through the front panel headphone jack - a perfect idiot - a ^%$& idiot?

They'll never tell the difference anyway... guaranteed!
 
I always thought they were used as a simplified magnetic amplifier (magamp). I could definitely be wrong though.
 
Well, the front panel audio connections should be shielded, so they don't go thru the ferrite, nor do the FW, eSATA an USB as they are supposed to be shielded too, it's the LED and switch wires that do.

Sorry.... it was off topic.

But yeah.. i think this part is almost absolutely useless. As i said, i havent used it once in any of my builds, and some of them will take more stress when what 100 people on this forum can do.
