I was goofing around in my 8KHA+'s soft menu tonight, and just for fun I set the core voltage to 1.85, fsb to 166, and multi to 6. I hit reset.. and for a while the monitor was dark. Thaen I pulled on the case side cover to open it, when suddenly the monitor came up. I looked at the monitor, and the post said AMD Thunderbird processor 1743mhz (166x10.5)! What the?!?! I thought the /5 PCI divisor was disabled on the 8kha+'s! But even wierder is that most applications do run faster, as if the system is running at 1.743g, but when I check XP system properties or H-Oda's WCPUID it says it is at 1.4g (and 266bus it says on WCPUID). But 3dmark's system info tool says it is at 1.4 too, but it says it is running at 166fsb. What the?!?! Am I really there?

Yes, it sounds like you are there. The 8KHA+ is more than capable of running a 166MHz fsb, although with no 1/5 pci divisor your AGP and PCI are getting pretty high, 41MHz. The 1600+ with the AGIOA stepping should not have any problem running 166MHz fsb at a 10.5 multiplier for 1743MHz at 1.85v (the default speed is 10.5 x 133 at 1.75v). If you are stable and running cool enough, enjoy. If your high pci/agp bus is a problem, then unlock the L1 bridges on the cpu and raise the multiplier, lower you fsb speeds. If the cpu remains locked, setting the multipier in the bios won't change a thing, many times you simply won't boot up.

Crap. My comp is lying to me. Set it to 133x10.5, and got cpu arith bench of 3860/1920 (Dhry/Whet).. set to 166x10.5 (it posted correct numbers and booted).. got similar results.. set to 200x10.5, again, posted correct numbers and booted.. but again same bench results. It seems this mobo will post anything above 140mhz fsb and run at default underneath. It'd be a good board for false brags.. but I am better than that.. slightly.. Im about real brags :)

I flashed the beta BIOS, and now I can get a legit 160mhz fsb x 9... not real fast, but the fsb helps.. and Im burning the chip in with Sandra and hoping for more...
