They don't just toss "worthless crap" out there. Inventory management is taken seriously by large companies and they generally know what they're doing.

Nonsense, what would a big company that beat out all it's local competition, rose to the top, and established a national presence know about selling computer parts?

I know what you mean. Seems like companies think "10 different brands of the same exact thing" is variety. In reality, it's just the illusion of variety. That said, pretty much it would probably not be a successful business model unless you have the buying power of like Fry's or Costco. Otherwise, if you don't compete on price, the only real market you're going to have is service (you should be able to beat geek squad on price and quality fortunately), or ... the "my power supply just burned up and I need a new one today" crowd .....
