Help!.. I have a really wierd problem that occurs only with some *newer* games. When I start these games (BF2 and NFSMW) either with Autorun or from the start menu.. the cd spins in the drive.. there is some cd/hdd activity for about 2 mins, but nothing happens...the games get loaded into the system memory..but do not start. At this point, I have to go to the task manager and manually kill the processes (bf2.exe and speed.exe) and try again.. this happens about 9 times out of the 10, I try to start a game. The older games(max payne, CoD), don't seem to have this problem.

My sys specs -
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Winchester) - Non O/C
Asus A8V motherboard
1 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR 400 (512x2)
Evga 6600GT 128MB AGP Video Card
Zalman ZM-400A 400W Power Supply
Lite-on Internal CD/DVD RW Drive
1x Maxtor 160GB HDD, 1xMaxtor 120GB HDD, 1xWD 160GB HDD

P.S. This problem just started..Until a few weeks ago, everything ran flawlessly..
Thanks in advance for your time..

Seeing as both the games you mentioned use Safedisc for copy protections, I bet that has something to do with it (especially since it hangs on loading the game). Some cd/imaging software can sometimes interfere with copy protection, so try uninstalling/disabling any software like dtools or alcohol.

You'd probally have better luck looking for a no-cd hack for those games (or if you don't have any cd imaging software installed then you can try to save an image of the game cd and use DTools to mount the image as a drive while using safedisc emulation).
