Wierd error beep: need help for a friend.

Hey guys, looking for a little help.

Friend calls me up this morning(waking me up =( ) and tells me his computer ins't working and the error beep is just a single short beep, no post, no moniter turn on response, nothing. Just one beep, then the computer shuts itself down.

His system specs are as follow

Duron 750
asus a7v
radeon le
512 ram
sound blaster awe 64(I think... whatever the one just before the live series was)

Any ideas? i think his cpu might be dead, but when my tbird died the computer still posted.... weird.

Are the fans inside the computer spinning? Ask him if he smells anything funny, because if he does, then the CPU is probably burnt out. If the fans are spinning, try switching out the power supply and see if that fixes the problem. Also try testing the RAM to make sure that it works. Hope this helps.
