I've got a very wierd email problem as of late, and am stumped. I use Win XP SP2, with Outlook Express. I use Adelphia cable and mail. For the past week I've been getting emails not addressed to me, with strange titles. Up until the last one, I didn't click to open them because they're probably infested with some nasty. I did accidentally open the last one, because it claimed to be from my mortgage company. It was full of what looked to be random words, plus some sort of GIF file (which my mail program didn't download).

Adelphia has been silent on the issue when I asked them what was going on. Some of the mails are addressed to other Adelphia addresses, but some are not.

Anyone ever seen this kind of thing before. Up until a week ago, I've gotten virtually zero unsolicited mail because I block everything from hotmail and Yahoo. I use NAV, Trojan Hunter, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and Spybot S&D. All report no malware/trojans/spyware/viruses, so I'm baffled as to why this might be happening.

I may end up wiping the system and reloading from disk, just to ease my paranoia, plus ditching the email acct. Hopefully you all can enlighten me so I don't have to do this.

After doing some digging around, it appears that it's just spam, and not a compromised system. A email address changeout should do the trick.
