I have a Abit VP6 and have flashed the BIO'S several times in the past.
But I have been trying to flash it with the latest YT Bios for the last two day's and when it get's to the FLASHING NOW part of the process, it just sit's there doing nothing.

Anyone know why that might happen?

(All Cacheing in the BIO'S is turned off)

Could it be a bad boot disk ? When the flashing process about to start...& then hanged, any light from the floppy drive...sound or some sort ?

Well umm set CMOS to DEFAULT.
When you get to the Award/Phoenix screen, where you have to type the file name.
Type it, some times it asks if you want to SAVE the OLD BIOS, and I just click NO, then it asks again if you want to Replace BIOS say YES. That should be it. I usually forget the option to SAve the old BIOS and like you it just "sits there doing nothing"

(PS nice system specs... i could not have dreamed of one better)

Did the latest update you did maybe incl. a new bios protect funtion? That threw me on my msi borad. They have now an option that says Biios protection. If it is active (default) it won't let you write to the Bios. Just trying to come up with ideas.

im not familiar with that particular board, but... some boards have a jumper that can make the bios chip write protected, so verify you dont have it write protected.

Your right, some boards have a built in Virus protection feature that will protect to BIOS (mine doesn't)

Some have a jumper for clearing the BIOS (setting it back to stock settings) but it doesn't keep one from flashing it. (Atleast not on my board)

Thanks for the input though!
