I'm well aware that seeing a doctor (rather than posting on ATOT) would be my best option, but I'm not going to be able to do that today, so I could use some advice in the meantime...

I went to bed last night feeling absolutely fine. Around 5am, I woke up shivering uncontrollably... I don't think my room was particularly cold, but I was freezing my ass off under two blankets. I got up to get some more blankets only to be hit by a wave of nausea... i really felt like i was going to puke, which is very rare for me (i've only puked once in my life)... I ended up falling asleep face down when the dizziness went away and I warmed up...

this morning i feel a lot better but def. not 100%... i'm sweating a bit, my back is sore and i'm slightly jittery...

is this food poisoning? the flu? something else?

cliffs:
* woke up at 5am shivering and feeling sick
* woke up this morning feeling better
* what the hell is this?

update:
* my back has gotten sore over the day
* i have a temperature of 100.3 F

Little bit of vertigo and chills never hurt anyone. If you were throwing up and/or crapping your guts out I'd say probably some for of gastroenteritis, maybe a bad meal or maybe your body just decided to hate on you for a few hours.

You aren't taking any prescription drugs or any meds, herbs or whatnot I assume?

honestly to me it just sounds like a bit of a fever (shivering) and a bit of the stomach flu.
Could be food poisening, but usually that turns out a lot worse =)
Hope ya feel better -did you ever take your temp? I'm just getting over somthin like this- not fun at all.

nope, no drugs of any kind... as the day has progressed, my back muscles have become more sore...

Did ya puke? If not you probably just sleep wrong and then coupled with the shivering which can be really hard on certain muscle groups if you shiver hard enough.

i didn't puke, so the soreness prob is from shivering or other flu-like symptoms...

any idea what it was?

Honestly given your list of symptoms so far....and from my experience with it, you probably have the flu. chills and body aches are usually the first sign. If you start coughing, have a continual fever and nasal congestion you probably either have the flu or barring that some sort of common cold.

This actually works pretty well.

Repeat every 4-6 hours until you are better.

Sounds like a mild case of the ebola. May want to get that taken care of before it escalates.

Just another variation of the flu bug. It really hit my stomach hard. Got both the kids too. It was a pretty icky week or so all around. Even after I got over the initial phase pretty quickly, I still didnt feel 100% for a few days thereafter.
