Wierd 9600XT Call of Duty Problem

I upgraded my system from a GF5200 card to an ATI branded 9600XT. I initially tried the 4.1 drivers and would get a strange problem where the screen would dim if I hit keyboard buttons on my Logitech Cordless MX Duo (did not happen with GF5200). The only way to avoid this was to use the 3.9 drivers, turn off VPU and fastwrite.

I built a new system and moved the 9600 over. Same problem, even with the latest 4.3 drivers. If I am in the middle of a game and use I hit mute or something else by mistake on my keyboard, the darn thing dims.

I did figure out that if I back out to the graphics options and click on the brightness slider, it will be "normal" again.

ATI said this problem is has not been seen before.

My system is an Asus mobo, 2.8c, 1GB ram, XP Pro.

Anyone have a clue as to what to do?

It happens no matter what key I hit. Seems to be related to the post 3.9 drivers. Nvidia drivers have always been more stable for me.

its strange mine started doing that too after about the 3.10 drivers when I use the wheel to turn up or down my volume with my mx duo the brightness goes way way down. I beat the game and don't really play it anymore but it was annoying that it did that.

Got it fixed. Under the color settings for the display there is an option for either Desktop or Full 3d. I switched it to Full 3D and it works great now. I also beat the game but play online way too much.

I had a similar problem on a Ti4200/AMD 2500 system (not my comp). We ended up having to use the command /ignorehwgamma 1 (or something like that). It basically disables the in-game gamma feature and uses the brightness that your monitor is at. Anyway, if you ever have the problem again, find the config file for CoD and search for gamma, when you find the ignorehwgamma string, set it to 1.
