I'm building a halloween costume and I'm concerned it might be too big to fit though some doors.

What is the width of most doors openings with a door attached? I thought it was 32" but I know some doors are smaller.

What do you think is the largest width costume I could safely get away with without actually knowing what the doors are like where I'm going on halloween?

36" is pretty standard for entry doors AFAIK... Inside doors (ie bathroom, bedroom) may be a couple of inches narrower

The widths come in two inch increments. 32 is pretty common, especially on older homes. There's a chance of a 30 inch doorway, but the majority are 32, 34, or 36.

any new construction should be at least 36" due to Americans with Disabilities laws. Older construction would most likely be 32".

residential entry doors are almost aways 36" (34 1/2 clearance). Interior doors usually 32".

Commercial are 36"

In the biz, they're called 2-6, 2-8, 3-0. :D

When I was young, I could carry a 3-0 exterior door (solid CVG fir, for example) with full 5.5" jambs, single sidelight and sill. Nice and heavy. Toss it over my back and I was good to go. Werd.
