If this is covered somewhere else let me know. I have always been conventional with the normal square monitor. I'm running dual 19" lcds right now. I mostly game on my PC. I always assumed widescreens were for watching tv and movies and such never considered it a gaming screen. But the more I read I may be changing my opinion. Am i missing something?

Yeah, Widescreen is pretty much the standard now, and *any* modern PC game will work great in Widescreen. If you go wide, get at least a 20", as the 1440x900 on the 19s can be a little limiting compared to the 1680x1050 on the 20/22s, and the 1920x1200 on the 24 and 30"ers.

Pretty much agree - and I would say would would want 22" as the minimum size, as this is about the same as a 19" LCD in height, with a wider screen.

You get a lot more peripherial vision in FPS and you can see more of a game world from a top down view type game. Once you go wide screen you wont go back. Be careful what you buy though. Just like with CRTs not all LCDs are built and created equal. Shop by model and not brand because all the manufacturers make some good models and they also all make some bad models.
