I am considering buying a ViewSonic VX2025WM monitor. Its 20 inches of widescreen. I have a 6800gs and its fine for gaming for me. Is this card going to run the same on this widescreen monitor? I have enough money for a 7900gt if its not but i dont want to upgrade cards right now. another question is whats the differance between vga and dvi output?

Your card should run fine on widescreen. I upgraded to widescreen with an ATI 9800 and it works great. Dvi is for digital video input. It is a better picture and if your card supports it, which I think it does, use it.

Yup, it'll run just fine.

DVI is better overall. No conversion to analog. If your monitor has it (VX2025 does), and your video card has it (it does) then use it. It's sharper.

Also, I have a VX2025 and love it :)

Definitely use DVI since there's no picture position adjustment, it just automatically fills the screen.
