If you watch TV sourced in 4:3, and your set is programmed to display the aspect correctly, when a 16:9 program comes on, does it change automatically to stretch it out or do you see black bars on top and side?

Also, how many buttons do you have to press to change the ratio, is it a setup menu thing or just one button?

If your set does it auto or has a key on remote to quick-change, please let me know make/model.

Thanks.

we have Sony XBR Hi-Scan KP-57XBR10W, at home, not sure becasue its alaways on widescreen but to change it to 4:3 there is a "mode" button on the remote

that shifts it from
Full (Widescreen)
Zoom
and 4:3

I have different settings for my seperate inputs on my Mitsubishi WS-55859, so I just leave seperate settings for TV, DVD, and video games.

I find it easier to watch all program regardless of aspect ratio in the full (widescreen) format. The picture is stretched a little, but you hardly notice after a while. But to answer your question, there nortmaly is a mode button the will just scroll through the different aspect modes.
