Well I am down in FL visiting my parents and on their PC. They have this Optiquest Q19WB widescreen monitor. They have integrated graphics via an Intel 82810 Graphics Controller (older Dell Dimension). The resolution is currently set to 1152 x 864 and (only two other options, 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768) so it's a square resolution that's getting stretched and looks crappy. They don't notice, but I do. I tried going Here to download the latest drivers and resolution switcher applet, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how I can get this monitor to it's recommended default resolution of 1440 x 900?

TIA,

Thanks bud. I downloaded the latest Intel drivers - Windows still allows me the same three options as posted above but the Intel drivers came with an applet that let me get up to 1280 x 960, so it looks a little better.

Edit: Well I thought I got her to 1280 x 960, but I downloaded Power Strip and I'm still running 1152 x 864, I guess 1280 x 960 isn't supported by the monitor. Power Strip correctly recognizes the monitor and it's max resolution of 1440 x 900, but the resolution options still remain the same, leading me to believe it's a limitation of this integrated graphics chipset. Oh well, the updated Intel drivers did seem to improve the display, so whatever.

Thanks for the help.

Same with my 906BW and 8800GTS. These resolutions just aren't supported by most cards.

I used the Nvidia Control Center to create a custom resolution setting. I would hope Powerstrip would have something similar.

Also, I read about installing the monitor's driver and that unlocking new resolutions and, if not, then giving you the ability to modify the .INF file to create the resolution you want.
