Widescreen or dual monitors?

One more quick question before I order tomorrow morning. Obviously with my 7600GT I will have to scale games, but I should be fine to run normal Windows programs at full res, right? Just simple stuff like WMP10, web browsers, TV tuner programs etc. Also some very simple GIMP work. My system is AMD Athlon64 3500+ (939), 1.5gb memory, 7600GT.

I am thinking about doing the same thing however curious how I can play Battlefield 2 on one monitor and say see emails and (sic) work on another at the same time. Does this require a program or do I have to run games in a window?

If you're on a budget, go for the Samsung 205BW. It also has support for HDCP and comes pretty close in performance to the NEC 20WMGX2. It's A LOT closer than the VX2520WM when I compared them side by side.

wow those Samsung 205BW's are reasonable. I don't mind spending more, just impossible to see the dell side by side next to the Samsungs and NECs etc.

Which Dell are you looking at getting? If it's the 2005FPW, the Samsung blows it out of the water. I own the 2005FPW and it's definitely a NIGHT AND DAY diff. 😉

Once you use dual, you'll never go back.

Hellz yeah! I got a 2005FPW and a 17" LCD. Gonna be getting another wide screen to replace the 17". Want to have the same rez on both monitors.

whats soo good about dual monitor setups? just curious

Isnt it annoying with the frame of each monitor breaking your view?

Again, i am very curious about this

It's absolutely awesome to run dual's. I've been doing it for years. It is so nice to be able to do what everyone says...I game on one monitor , while I'm running motherboard monitors dashboard, and my system monitoring utilities on the other screen. You can see what's going on with your PC while your gaming gets intense. That , and watching a movie on one , while websurfing on the other......Surfing , and running a chat client on the other. It's just nice , and I've gotten rather spoiled with it. I'm in the same boat where I'm running two 17 CRT monitors , and looking at two 19 inch LCD's....I've started to think more along the lines of 3 x 19 inch LCD's , and looking into that Mattrox triple head to go deal. That looks so friggin sweet it makes me sick. But only for gaming. That would kill the separate screens that I like having. And turn it into one monitor all the time. I'm looking into that to satisfy my widescreen sweet tooth.
I just think it'll ruin my separate screen goodness by turning the three into a big widescreen all the time that you can't turn on and off.

I was looking at the current Dell 2007 model.

I went from 1 20" CRT ----> 20" CRT + 15" LCD ----> 20.1" LCD

now I am looking to buy anouther LCD ... IMO you just can't go back to one and be ok with it 😛

Well my Dell 2407FPW arrived today 😀 I've been using it for a couple of hours so far and I must say I am FVCKING STOKED! This is the best upgrade I've ever made! I'm not going to do a full review of it because this has to be one of the most reviewed monitors on the net at the moment but suffice it to say I am a very happy man. The size is incredible (I'd never actually seen a 24" in the flesh before). Didn't find any dead pixels with Dead Pixel Buddy. A couple of comments - the corners appear just a little darker than the rest of the screen, but it seems to correct itself if I move my head to different positions. This seems to be par for the course for LCDs. The viewing angles are REALLY nice compared to the older, cheaper LCDs I've used in the past.

I fired up a game of Day of Defeat Source expecting to have to turn down some details to run at native res, but as pleasently surprised when the game ran flawlessly on maximum resolution with maxed out details and full HDR (no AA or AF as I never use them). Haven't tried any other games yet but I'm hopeful for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and HL Ep1.

Overall I am extremely happy. Questions are welcome, I'm happy to answer them but keep in mind I'm no expert on LCD monitors. I must say I certainly do not regret buying this screen in lieu of a dual LCD setup.

You know I really do want the 2407WFP monitor, but also want dual screens. 2 x 2407WFP seems a bit too much. I'm wondering what one 20" and one 24" widescreen would be like. they both run at different resolutions - not sure how well this would work.

price drop on the 2407WFP makes it pretty attractive.

As long as you're not planning to game with both at the same time posting the same game, it would be okay. Two different resolution desktops is fine. If people keep talking about that 24", I might..........NO!!...........WAIT!!!..........................STOP IT!!!..............MUST RESTRAIN..................DON'T NEED ANOTHER......................L....C......D........................

Lets see a pic of the setup now man!!!

Okay guys just updated my PC Profile with pictures of the new setup, hope you like it 😀

Yeah yeah I know I need a wireless mouse now!

Has anyone set up dual 2407FPW? If so what graphics card are you using to drive these? What is the performance like? I dont game much... and like passive cooling GPUs.

can anyone describe any frustrations they have had with this setup.

I currently have two 2005FPWs and need a bit more real estate.

Thanks in Advance.
