I just bought a 22" WS display and one of the games I play does not support WS (1680x1050), so when I play, even though it fills the screen, I get the squashed down and stretched out effect.

Is there any way to get a game to play at a 5:4 (say 1280x1024) with bars of the sides? so it isn't stretched. Are there any kind of programs out there that will do this? I tried switching image scaling in CCC, but that didn't help.

TIA

ok, after a little more messing around I was able to get 1360x1024 to work with Image scaling in CCC. Not sure why 1280x1024 won't work. Anyway, I hexed the mvp exe to support that res and it seems to be working. It's still not the correct aspect ratio, but it's much better than 1680x1050 as far as reducing the stretching.

How do you mean it is not the correct aspect ratio? Is the game not rendering 1360x1024 as 4:3?

I think I confused myself. Yes, it is working at 1360x1024. I didn't even realize that was 4:3
